A letter to my future self

Since the age of 18, I have been writing letters to my future self. The letters generally state big challenges I am facing right now and what I consider to be my big wins. These letters are generally for Veer a decade older, and a few for the 50-year-old, Veer

In this blog, I want to tell you why I started doing this and maybe motivate you to write a letter to your future self.

Writing letters to your future-self work in two ways, you are making a journal of your life and are manifesting at the same time

I write these letters to understand myself and my outlook to life better. The big things I am looking out for are, is my life a pattern? Are my challenges the same just in a different avatar or am I growing over time? Are my wins becoming different? How am I looking at life when I am 28 compared to when I was 18?

I follow a theme when writing these letters. I generally write these sitting at a cafe or an open area (I have a reason behind this). I begin with describing my environment, the basics being day and date and moving on to the colour of my clothes, the cafe/park and what is happening around me.

I move on to writing about the major aspects that matter to me and what is happening in my life in each of the aspects right now and what I would like it to be in the future. The aspects being, My Health, My Peace, My Family and My Wealth. I have days where I am content with some aspects of my life so I explain to my future-self how I am feeling and why I am content.

Writing letters to your future self and answering, what is going on right now and what I want in the future will make you think and understand what you really wish for 10 years from now. It will make you sit back and question your life, something we as a fast-paced society have forgotten to do!

One of my favourite quote from Bill Gates sums it all, “Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.”
